If you want to enhance your vegetable garden, there are certain tips, sometimes unusual, that will help you beautify your organic plantations. As everyone knows, enriching the soil is always the best way to speed up crops. Quickly discover this method which is out of the ordinary, but which turns out to be very promising!
Certain objects sometimes seem useless to us. To avoid clutter, we systematically throw them in the trash. However, very often, they can be reused wisely. Lovers of recycling will be happy to learn that toilet paper rolls can be very useful for gardening. In fact, we can give them a second wind to create seedlings that will help your seeds germinate. A simple and very economical technique that will surprise you!
Step by step we will show you how to sow seeds in the garden using just toilet paper rolls.
How to use toilet paper rolls for seedlings?

You will need :
- A pair of scissors
- Spoon
- A roll of toilet paper
- Sowing land
Step 1: Make Pots From Toilet Paper Rolls

Using a pair of scissors, make 4 cuts in the ends of the roll and fold them inward to fill the opening and create a tightly closed bottom. In a few seconds, you will obtain a biodegradable pot to make your seedlings. Repeat the same operation with all the toilet paper rolls you will need to plant your seedlings .
Step 2: Prepare the soil and plant the seedlings

Using a spoon, fill your pots with potting soil specially suited for seedlings. Press down well using the back of the spoon.
Then, place your pots in a saucer and water the soil preferably with clear, non-calcareous water. Your soil is now ready to receive seedlings. Using a toothpick or needle, make a small hole in the center of the potting soil to place your seeds. If they are small seeds, like those of tomatoes for example, you can then insert 2 or 3 seeds into the soil. If, on the other hand, they are large, then make do with just one seed.
Note that each pot should only contain one variety of seeds. Then cover your seeds with a little potting soil. Moisten it slightly by spraying it with a little water.
Step 3: Plant the pots directly in the ground
Store your pots in a bright room at room temperature. Water them daily, but lightly. Young shoots will appear after a few days.
Wait until they are large enough to plant your toilet paper rolls directly outdoors in the ground. If you prefer indoor growing, then use a large pot to grow your seeds. This will allow your plants to grow, without you having to touch their roots to transplant them. Indeed, transplanting risks weakening the roots of certain plants.
Good to know: the advantage of using toilet paper rolls is that the cardboard is biodegradable and you will therefore not need to remove the young shoots and then plant them in the ground.
Once all these steps have been completed, all you have to do is be patient and wait for the shoots to develop slowly.
When to sow?
Sowing depends on the types of plants and their ability to withstand cold or not. For perennial plants, known for their resistance to low temperatures, they can be sown in the fall. Undemanding, exotic and tropical plants can be planted all year round. On the other hand, for vegetables and flowers that cannot tolerate cold or frost, you should think about sowing them between February and April.
Why sow plants?
Sowing is an important step in gardening. It makes it possible to obtain young shoots called seedlings, thanks to the germination of the sown seeds. As a bonus, this operation is very economical, because the purchase of seeds is much less expensive than that of ready-to-use plants.
In addition, seedlings will allow you to have a wide variety of vegetables or flowering plants at home. Indeed, certain vegetables are not always available in the form of transplanted plants. This is particularly the case for certain vegetables such as carrots, fabaceae or beans. They are not sold as plants: they must then be cultivated and sown in the garden to be able to harvest them.
You should also know that the seedlings keep for a long time. You can therefore use them at any time in your vegetable garden, as long as you store them well.
Tip: Store your seeds in a bag of silica gel to prevent possible mold from humidity.
You will have understood, don’t throw away your toilet paper rolls! You can recycle them by adopting this ingenious method for sowing and planting young shoots in the ground or in a pot, without weakening their roots.
