Tomatoes are often vulnerable to fungal diseases like late blight. Here are some effective natural methods to protect your tomatoes from phytophthora.
Rock Salt Solution
Prepare a solution by dissolving 200 g of rock salt in 10 liters of water. Begin by trimming off diseased and dry leaves from the tomatoes, then spray them thoroughly with this solution to prevent the disease.
Garlic Infusion
Chop garlic cloves finely and fill a glass with them. Add this to a bucket containing 10 liters of water and let it infuse. Before use, filter the infusion and add 2 grams of manganese to the mixture.
Perform 3 treatments:
- First treatment during ovary formation.
- Second treatment 10 days after the first.
- Third treatment 14 days after the second.
Kefir Solution
Dilute 1 liter of fresh kefir in a bucket of water and allow the mixture to infuse for several days. Use this solution for prevention purposes, applying it 14 days after transplanting seedlings into open ground. Repeat this treatment weekly.
Wood Ash Solution
Mix 0.5 buckets of wood ash with 10 liters of water and let it infuse for 3 days. Dilute the infused mixture with an additional 10 liters of water, resulting in 30 liters total. To ensure the solution adheres to the plants, add a small amount of liquid soap.
Perform 3 treatments:
- First treatment after complete germination of seedlings.
- Second treatment at the beginning of flowering.
- Third treatment at the beginning of fruiting.
Milk and Iodine Mixture
Dissolve 1 liter of skimmed milk in a bucket of water and add 20 drops of iodine. This treatment helps tomatoes ripen quickly.
Tinder Mushroom Infusion
Prepare an infusion using 100 grams of tinder mushroom in 1 liter of water. Dry the mushroom with tin foil, grind it in a meat grinder, pour boiling water over it, and let it cool. Apply this treatment once every 10 days.
Copper Punctures
Using a piece of copper wire, stimulate tomato stems by making punctures. Grind the copper wire with sandpaper and cut it into 4 cm pieces. Make punctures in the stem 10 cm above the ground level and bend the ends of the wire down. This helps enhance respiration and stabilizes chlorophyll, making tomatoes more resistant to fungal diseases.
By applying these natural remedies effectively and at the right stages of growth, you can protect your tomatoes from fungal diseases and ensure a healthier, more fruitful harvest.
