People with a green thumb like to go to the gardener or the florist. Buying flowers or plants may therefore be one of your favorite activities. However, not all flowers are a good choice. There are rules to follow so as not to buy plants that wilt very quickly. Here are our tips to consider when purchasing plants

What should you do before buying your plant from the florist?

Buy plants

Purchasing indoor plants is quick and easy. However, you should follow a series of recommendations before purchasing them, including finding the ideal place in the house to place them. In particular, they should be avoided from direct sunlight.

When you arrive at a flower shop  , you look at the number of leaves on each flower and you miss certain aspects that can signal whether the plant is healthy or not. Although sellers are usually experts in plant care, you shouldn’t always rely on them when making purchases.

Pay attention to the condition of the plants yourself. Find out what signs you should never ignore when buying plants. There are a few details that will immediately show you that the flowers won’t last.

To avoid situations in which the plant wilts quickly after purchase, consider the following recommendations. First of all, always avoid plants that have spider webs.

If it has cobwebs, this is an indication that the plant is probably already accustomed to growing in such an environment, namely infested with spiders. It is one of the most difficult plant pests to control without the help of a very strong insecticide. If you buy such a plant, other flowers in the  garden  or house may also be affected.

Avoid buying this type of plant from the florist

Potted plants

If you notice something moving on or in the soil of the plant , avoid purchasing it. The flower may have mites, which can affect the plants. Additionally, mites provide a perfect environment for fungi to grow, which is not an advantage for potted plants.

Also, if flowers from the garden center or florist have dark spots on the leaves, be careful. When these spots are particularly numerous, it could signal that the plant is suffering from a fungal infection.

If the flowers have white spots on the leaves, on the surface, they may show a sign of a cotton plant infestation. In these cases, follow the base of the plant. If you detect a sulfurous smell or stagnant water, it is likely that the plant has entered the rotting phase

Don’t rush to the first plant once you arrive at the florist, inspect it first!
