Here are some valuable tips to help you grow strong and healthy seedlings. With a little effort and attention, you can achieve great results.
Take Care of the Racks
Consider installing racks for your seedlings on the windowsill or placing them on the floor. While using the floor offers more space, you’ll need to ensure adequate lighting. Make sure the shelves are moisture-resistant, easily accessible, sturdy, and convenient. You can either build these racks yourself or purchase them from a hardware store.
Ensure Proper Lighting
Good lighting is crucial for seedling growth. You can either set up your own lighting system or invest in special phytolamps. Opt for LED or fluorescent lights, positioning them about 10 cm away from the seedlings. If desired, use reflective screens to enhance light distribution.
Watch for Spider Mites
Spider mites can become a problem, especially in dry air and high temperatures. They can severely affect your seedlings, leading to poor health or even death. Look out for cobwebs and small white spots on your plants. Regularly inspect your seedlings, and if you notice mites, treat them with a household soap solution. Allow it to sit for 3 hours, then rinse off the soap and wrap the seedlings in plastic wrap for 24 hours. Alternatively, you can use Fitoverm by mixing 2 ml of the product with 1000 ml of water. Repeat the spraying after 7 days, and don’t forget to treat the window sills as well.
