When your cucumbers start developing their third set of leaves, you might notice that their growth begins to slow down. This is the perfect time to provide them with a boost of nutrients.
Growth Issues and Solutions:
Slower growth can sometimes be attributed to cold nighttime temperatures. If this is the case, protect your cucumbers by covering them with agricultural fabric during the night.
Effective Feeding Solution:
To encourage your cucumbers to grow quickly and reduce bitterness, use the following nutrient solution:
Ingredients:
- 500 ml water
- 1 tablespoon dry yeast
- 30 grams sugar
- 5000 ml warm water
- Wood ash (a small amount for each plant)
Preparation and Application:
- Prepare the Yeast Solution: In a 1-liter jar, dissolve 500 ml of water with 1 tablespoon of dry yeast and 30 grams of sugar. Stir the mixture well and let it sit for a couple of hours.
- Dilute the Solution: After the mixture has fermented, add 5000 ml of warm water to it. This will dilute the concentrated yeast solution.
- Feed Your Cucumbers: Before applying the solution, sprinkle a small amount of wood ash around the base of each cucumber plant. This will provide additional nutrients and help improve soil conditions.
- Watering: Dilute 1 liter of the prepared fertilizer solution in a bucket of warm water. Use this diluted solution to water your cucumber plants. Apply approximately 500 ml of the mixture per plant.
By using this feeding method, you’ll help your cucumbers grow more vigorously and with less bitterness, leading to a healthier and more productive crop.
Happy Gardening and Best Wishes for a Bountiful Harvest!
